BrightUniversity of Finance - Marketing strengthens connections with troops and communities on Vietnam’s maritime frontiers

Throughout September 2026, the University of Finance - Marketing continued to take part in activities dedicated to Vietnam’s seas and islands, with representatives of the University leadership and Trade Union joining working visits to the southwestern maritime region, the DK1 offshore platforms and Con Dao.

These journeys conveyed the care and solidarity of those on the mainland to officers, soldiers and local communities serving and living on the country’s maritime frontiers, while further promoting a sense of responsibility, national pride and awareness of maritime sovereignty within the University community.

From September 11 to 18, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Trung Dao, Vice Rector of the University of Finance - Marketing, represented the University in a Ho Chi Minh City delegation visiting officers, soldiers and residents on islands in Vietnam’s southwestern waters and at the DK1 offshore platforms.

During the eight-day journey, the delegation visited Con Dao, Hon Khoai, Tho Chu, Hon Chuoi, Nam Du, Hon Doc, Phu Quoc and the DK1 offshore platforms, gaining first-hand insights into the living and working conditions of forces performing important duties at sea and on the islands.

At each destination, the delegation visited and encouraged armed forces units, presented gifts and support resources, and carried out social welfare activities for local residents and students. Support was also provided to disadvantaged students through educational assistance and the “Stepping Forward to the Future” scholarship programme, helping them continue their studies with greater confidence and motivation.

The journey also featured a range of activities promoting historical education and gratitude. Delegates paid tribute at historical sites, learned more about important landmarks associated with Vietnam’s revolutionary history, and commemorated generations who sacrificed their lives for national independence, freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Cultural exchanges, flag-raising ceremonies and programmes such as “Proud of Vietnam’s Seas and Islands” helped strengthen bonds between the mainland and maritime communities while offering encouragement to officers and soldiers serving on the front lines.
The delegation also attended communication programmes on the situation in Vietnam’s seas and islands, the Vietnam Coast Guard Law, and regulations concerning the prevention of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. These activities provided participants with greater practical understanding of maritime law enforcement, security and the protection of national sovereignty.

Continuing the University’s activities during the month, from September 18 to 20, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung, Vice Chairwoman of the Trade Union of the University of Finance - Marketing, joined a working visit to Con Dao. Her participation further extended the University’s activities of gratitude, historical education and engagement with Vietnam’s seas and islands, while demonstrating the active involvement of University organizations in programmes of social and community significance.

For the University of Finance - Marketing, these journeys represent more than visits to distant islands and maritime areas. They also provide valuable opportunities to bring real-life experiences from the country’s front lines back into the educational environment, thereby nurturing patriotism, civic responsibility, community engagement and awareness of national maritime sovereignty among staff and students.

From the mainland to the seas and islands, the journey connects not only geographical destinations, but also the rear with the front lines, gratitude with responsibility, and love for the country with concrete action.
Through such meaningful engagement, the University of Finance - Marketing continues to contribute its commitment and sense of responsibility to promoting solidarity, national pride and the shared determination to safeguard Vietnam’s seas and islands.
