Faculty of Commerce and Tourism
I. Overview
The Faculty of Commerce and Tourism traces its origins to the Faculty of Commerce, which was established on October 10, 2002.
On May 27, 2004, the Faculty was renamed the Faculty of Commerce and Tourism, following the upgrading of the Semi-Public College of Marketing to the Semi-Public University of Marketing pursuant to Decision No. 29/2004/QĐ-TTg dated March 5, 2004, issued by the Prime Minister.
On October 13, 2010, in response to the need to expand the scale of education and training and enhance training quality, the Faculty of Commerce and Tourism was reorganized into two separate faculties: the Faculty of Commerce and the Faculty of Tourism.
In August 2017, the Faculty of Commerce assumed responsibility for the Faculty of International Business from the College of Finance and Customs, following the merger of the College of Finance and Customs into the University of Finance and Marketing pursuant to Decision No. 1138/QĐ-TTg dated August 4, 2017, issued by the Prime Minister.
On December 23, 2024, in implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW dated October 25, 2017, of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on “Several issues concerning the continued reform and restructuring of the organizational apparatus of the political system to ensure a streamlined, effective, and efficient system,” and Directive No. 03/CT-BTC dated December 3, 2024, on the reform and restructuring of the organizational apparatus of the Ministry of Finance, the Faculty of Commerce and the Faculty of Tourism were merged to establish the Faculty of Commerce and Tourism.
The merger was implemented pursuant to Resolution No. 154/NQ-ĐHTCM-HĐT of the University Council dated December 23, 2024, on the merger of the Faculty of Commerce and the Faculty of Tourism into the Faculty of Commerce and Tourism.
II. Faculty Mission, vision
MISSION
The Faculty of Commerce and Tourism is committed to providing high-quality education and training in International Business and Tourism, including Tourism and Travel Services Management, Hotel Management, and Restaurant and Food Service Management, in accordance with national and regional standards and in response to the evolving needs of society in the context of international integration and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0).
The Faculty also undertakes scientific research and knowledge transfer in human resource development, business administration, and the development of strategies and policies for international business and tourism. Through its educational, research, and knowledge-transfer activities, the Faculty contributes to meeting the needs of enterprises, organizations, and society.
VISION
By 2035, the Faculty of Commerce and Tourism aims to become a recognized institution for undergraduate and postgraduate education and training in International Business and Tourism, including Tourism and Travel Services Management, Hotel Management, and Restaurant and Food Service Management.
The Faculty also aims to establish itself as a reputable center for consultancy, human resource development, and knowledge transfer in international business administration and tourism in the southern region of Vietnam. By 2045, the Faculty of Commerce and Tourism aims to become a higher education unit providing undergraduate and postgraduate education that meets national and international quality standards and to be recognized among the leading institutions in the southern region of Vietnam in the fields of International Business and Tourism.

It also encourages cooperation between the Faculty, its academic departments, and other units and individuals both within and outside the University.

The Faculty continuously improves the quality and effectiveness of its education, research, knowledge-transfer, and community-engagement activities in alignment with the University's strategic objectives.

Continuous learning and international integration: The Faculty continuously learns from and aligns its practices with international standards and developments in higher education and the relevant professional fields. It aims to develop tourism and international business professionals with a global outlook and the competencies required to participate effectively in the ASEAN and international labour markets.
