UFM students gain practical insights into tax administration

On July 24, 2026, students from the University of Finance - Marketing (UFM) participated in a field study programme at the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department. The activity offered students an opportunity to explore professional tax administration and connect classroom knowledge with real-world practice.

The UFM delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Trung Dao, Vice Rector of the University, and included representatives of relevant faculties and departments, lecturers, and students. In addition to Economic Law students, more than 30 students majoring in Marketing, Finance and Banking, and Economic Management who were taking a Tax Policy course joined the programme.

Representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department welcomed UFM’s practice-oriented education strategy, noting that field-based learning enables students to better understand the roles and responsibilities of tax authorities while strengthening their awareness of tax compliance.

During the programme, tax officials introduced key procedures in corporate tax administration, including tax registration, electronic tax declaration and payment, tax refunds, tax finalisation, and taxpayer risk management. Students also gained insights into tax inspection procedures, common compliance errors, electronic invoices, accounting documents, deductible and non-deductible expenses, and administrative penalties.

A lively discussion allowed students to raise questions about the application of tax policies and regulations in business operations. Practical explanations and case-based examples helped them better understand the importance of accuracy, transparency, and accountability in fulfilling tax obligations.

Speaking at the programme, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Trung Dao expressed his appreciation to the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department for its warm reception and valuable professional insights. He emphasised that field study programmes play an important role in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and workplace requirements.

The programme reaffirmed UFM’s commitment to combining theoretical education with practical experience. It also helped students strengthen their professional knowledge, analytical thinking, communication skills, and readiness for the labour market.
