On September 25, 2026, a delegation from the University of Finance – Marketing (UFM), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tien Dat, President of UFM, visited and held a working session with the Institute of Economics under the Science Committee, Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of the University’s international working trip to Kazakhstan.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the two sides to discuss their research strengths, experience in implementing scientific projects, and potential cooperation in economic research, policy advisory, postgraduate education, and academic exchange.

A key focus of the discussion was the possibility of conducting joint research on practical economic and financial issues, particularly in areas such as the state budget, tax policy, public finance, and economic policy. Such cooperation is expected to strengthen the connection between academic research, public administration, and policymaking, while enabling UFM to further leverage its expertise in economics, finance, management, and public policy.

The two institutions also explored opportunities to jointly undertake research projects, organize academic conferences and seminars, exchange experts and researchers, and share research findings. Cooperation in postgraduate education, including faculty exchanges, research supervision, and academic activities for master’s and doctoral programs, was also identified as a potential area for further development.

Established in 1952, the Institute of Economics is one of Kazakhstan’s long-standing economic research institutions, conducting both fundamental and applied research in areas including economic policy and sustainable growth, institutional economics and public administration, innovation and digitalization, regional economics, social policy and human capital, and the global economy.

These areas show considerable alignment with UFM’s research and academic strengths. For UFM, cooperation with the Institute of Economics opens new opportunities to expand its international research network, exchange research methodologies and policy analysis experience, and enhance the practical relevance of its scientific activities.

The visit marks another step in UFM’s efforts to strengthen international research cooperation, connect academic research with policymaking and practice, and contribute more effectively to socio-economic development through applied and policy-oriented research.
