From July 20 to 22, 2026, a delegation from the University of Finance - Marketing (UFM), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quoc Viet, Vice Rector, visited Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) in Malaysia. The visit formed part of UFM’s international cooperation agenda and preparations for its Development Strategy for 2026–2030, with a vision to 2045.

The delegation was welcomed by UTP leaders, including Prof. Ir. Dr. Hilmi Mukhtar, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Stakeholder Relations and Ecosystem Development, and Imran Abdul Kadir, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Strategy, Sustainability and Transformation.

Discussions focused on university governance, strategic planning, sustainable development, financial and resource management, data governance, performance assessment, risk management and international university rankings. UTP also shared its industry-oriented education model, in which businesses contribute to curriculum development, project-based learning, internships and student competency assessment.

In research and innovation, UFM explored UTP’s university–industry collaboration model, including Centres of Excellence, corporate laboratories and industry-commissioned research. The two sides also exchanged experience in intellectual property management, research commercialisation, innovation ecosystems and the application of research outcomes to business and social needs.

UFM and UTP agreed to strengthen cooperation in university governance, digital transformation, quality assurance, data management and internationalisation. Future initiatives are expected to include student and faculty exchanges, summer schools, short-term courses, joint academic programmes, collaborative research, international conferences and joint publications.

The two universities will continue discussions toward a UTP–UFM Cooperation Plan for 2026–2030, providing a framework for practical and sustainable collaboration in education, research and innovation.
