At the seminar, Mr. Hoang Son Giang shared about the skill of finding ideas in scientific research. He emphasized on unexpected ideas, hot topics or topics of broad interest, totally new topics or limitedly researched ones, or topics that the instructors are conducting.
MSc. Hoang Son Giang, Head of Science Management & Project Development Department, Center for Young Science and Technology Development shared “Experience in choosing good research topics to win high prizes in academic competitions for business students”
In order to improve the scientific research capacity of UFM students, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hang Nga, Deputy Head of Scientific Management Department proposed the following groups of solutions:
- First, encouraging students to participate in doing research can help them see the benefits and important role of scientific research activities during their university studies;
- Second, students must understand the steps of scientific research process: (1) finding research ideas, making research hypotheses, (2) collect relevant documents, (3) select the relevant theories, (4) choose appropriate research methods, (5) collect data, (6) analyze research results, (7) write conclusions, solutions, and recommendations;
- Third, announce the scientific research results (students must set a goal to achieve good results when conducting research): participate in contests to announce papers, publish in specialized journals, participate in entrepreneurship activities among students;
- Fourth, students must attend scientific research activities: participate in seminars, conferences, forums on scientific research and scientific products publishing;
- Fifth, choose the instructors (during courses, students must invite a lecturer to advise on student’s scientific research);
- Sixth, form a research group (for more efficient assignment, students have to form a group where each member possess his own strengths).
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hang Nga - Deputy Head of Scientific Management Department shared "Solutions to promote scientific research activities for UFM students"
At the seminar, the students were very excited and participated in the discussion with the instructors to better understand scientific research activities. It is expected that the seminar will help UFM students see the benefits and roles of scientific research activities as well as improve the quality of upcoming research papers.
