Faculty of Tourism


  • The Faculty of Tourism (FOT), which was formerly named the Faculty of Commerce & Tourism, was established under the Decision No. 1615/QD-DHTCM dated on Oct 13, 2010 by the President of the University of Finance & Marketing (UFM) with the goal to train high-quality human resources for the tourism sector. FOT faculty consists of well qualified lecturers who hold doctoral and master’s degrees from domestic and foreign leading institutions and who have much practical working experience in the field/subjects they teach.
  • At present FOT has 2 professional divisions, namely, Hospitality & Restaurant Management and Tourism Management and Travel Services.
    • The Division of Hospitality & Restaurant Management with 2 majors of Hospitality Management and Restaurant & Catering Management. The training programs are designed based on various advanced programs of schools well known for their traditional hospitality and restaurant training such as US University of Houston and Conrad N. Hilton College, Swiss SHMS and the Hotel School Sydney belonging to Australian Southern Cross University.
      • Hospitality Management: Upon graduation, students can work for international hotels, resorts, restaurants, events companies, tourist villages, bistro/bars, casinos, golf course complex.
      • Restaurant and Catering Management: Upon graduation, students can hold management positions at hotel restaurants, convention centers, wedding parties, fast food restaurants, canteens/ cafeterias in school, hospitals and other F&B places.
    • The Division of Tourism Management and Travel Services has 2 majors: Business Administration in Tourism and Event Management. In addition to the general knowledge of economics, politics, society and culture, students will also be equipped with knowledge and skills of business travel management; knowing how to organize and manage travel agents, tour operators, tour guides; knowing how to scriptwrite and the process of organizing events and promoting tourism.
      • Travel management: upon graduation, students can hold such positions as domestic and international tour guides, tour operators, resort managers, sales people or officers for immigration procedures in domestic and international travel companies, event management companies, tourist sites, offices of state management agencies in tourism.
      • Event Management: Upon graduation, students can undertake the tasks of planning and executing various kinds of event programs (trade, tourism, culture, etc.); represent celebrities (celebrities’ manager); work for domestic and international travel companies, events - media companies, amusement parks, offices of state management agencies in tourism.
  • FOT attaches great importance to scientific research and corporate cooperation in the field of services and tourism. In addition, the FOT also regularly updates its professional knowledge and skills required by the current labor market to timely design, review, adjust and modify its training programs to meet social needs.
  • In the coming time, FOT will continue to improve and enhance its training quality, taking initiative in exploiting domestic and international cooperation projects; coordinate with tourist agencies and tourist service organizations to combine training with scientific and practical research.
